How to choose the best jackets for winter in Nepal?



Probably there are a lot of options for wearing a warm jacket in winter. We must have proper jackets during the winter for staying at home, walking on the street for shopping, or outdoor activities like hiking or trekking in mountains. There are varieties of jackets available in the Nepali market for winter. But we are consistently unable to pick up the best one as we required because we do not have enough knowledge to check the quality of products that we need. it's really hard to find out the best products and of course the most reasonable ones. As a result, we have been purchasing jackets that don't meet our requirements to keep warm or paying high prices for the lower quality that doesn't last for months.

Here are a few tips for choosing the best one for this winter. Hope it helps you to choose the jackets with the best features as well as reasonable prices.

1. Down-insulated jackets
2. Primaloft insulated jackets
3. fleece lined Goretex jackets
4. Silicon(polyester filled) jackets (not recommended)


                   



Features
Jackets are known as outerwear so the outer shell should be durable even more it should be water resistant. It should have enough pockets in it to keep your phones, wallet, and some important things safe. Only having enough pockets is not enough until the pockets are not in good sizes. You should have at least 3 pockets on the outside and one more pocket inside so that we can keep our important things safe.

And of course, the hood which keeps our head warm during the cold should be warm and big enough and also it should be adjustable.


Quality
To talk about quality first thing we should think about is the zipper. It should be strong and smooth. Check it twice zipping up and down. If it works smoothly then it might be good quality. And these days silicon and down jackets are available in each and every store so don't get confused between down and silicon jackets even if they look similar. Down jackets are much lighter than silicon jackets so you can find them easily by weighing them. The weight of ultralight down jackets is around 350-500 grams but silicon weight around 750-1000 grams. Silicon jackets are much cheaper than goose-down filled jackets but in some contests, silicon jackets are more useful than goose-down since silicon gives the same warmth even it costs lower than down. And one more benefit of silicon jacket is it gets dry quickly even after washing them.

Prices
There is a huge difference in prices between down jackets and silicon jackets. If they are real down-filled jackets. But we should know that down and feather are not the same. To talk about weight between down and silicon down is much lighter than silicon jackets. so be sure at first which one you prefer between down jackets or silicon jackets. And the price for the best quality silicon jackets will be between 2000 to 3000. And down jackets cost between 4500 to 7500 if they are Nepal-made.
